ON THE SIM.

Gran Tocino is a crew of friends who drive together in real life and race together online. Canyon runs and car meets on the weekend, time attack laps at night — same group, same cars, two ways to drive them.

The routes.

Drawn maps built from each road's real elevation data — not satellite imagery, just the shape of the climb.

Route 39 — San Gabriel Canyon

Sweeping river-canyon road up from Azusa, hugging the San Gabriel's West Fork before the gate at Crystal Lake.

Terrain and elevation come from real USGS/SRTM elevation data queried along each road, not a drawn illustration. The horizontal path is simplified to a handful of real waypoints rather than the surveyed centerline, and vertical relief is exaggerated 2× so the climb reads clearly at this scale. Stat figures above are the published numbers ("~" marks the approximate ones).

Where the name comes from. Tocino is a Filipino breakfast dish — the group started as Filipino friends who loved food as much as cars, and "Gran Tocino" stuck as a half-joke early on. The crew's grown since and isn't all Filipino anymore, but the name never changed.
